- Description
-
The old synagogue of Dresden (which was formerly called the Dresden Synagogue or Semper Synagogue) was consecrated in 1840 and was located above the Elbe River near the so-called Gondelhafen on the edge of the city center. It was designed by Gottfried Semper and was in a neo-Romanesque architectural style. During the November protests in 1938, the synagogue was destroyed by the Nazis. The remains of the synagogue were destroyed or used for other construction projects.
